Enterprise Campus Redesign
Rebuilt a multi-building campus network for 3,000+ users with a redundant collapsed core and zero single points of failure.
Overview
A five-building campus running on aging, flat Layer-2 was hitting broadcast storms and hours-long outages. The brief: modernise without a big-bang cutover.
The challenge
The existing network had no segmentation, a single core switch, and undocumented cabling. Any change risked taking the whole site down during business hours.
The approach
I designed a redundant collapsed-core with per-department VLANs, first-hop redundancy via HSRP, and a phased migration that moved one building per weekend with rollback plans at each step.
Results
Unplanned downtime dropped to near zero, mean-time-to-recovery fell from hours to minutes, and the topology is now fully documented in NetBox as the source of truth.
